Our philosophy
We foster a culture of innovation mixed with long-term thinking, which means we offer leading-edge technology solutions for records and information management (RIM) while continuing to offer unparalleled support to our customers, many of whom have been with us for decades. We grow slowly and steadily, developing our own products rather than patching together acquired systems or piecing off our systems as it's convenient and/or lucrative.
Our mission
Zasio provides agile, innovative technology solutions and consulting services to help businesses of all sizes build and maintain a successful information governance program. We believe information governance does not need to be complicated. We solve problems, collaborate, analyze ways to provide exceptional customer experiences with our technology, consulting and world-class support solutions, and help our customers manage and protect their information.
Our credentials
CRMs, IGPs, CIPPs, CISMs, and an AIGP on staff — and membership in ARMA International and Boise Valley ARMA, where the records-management standards actually get written.
Associations, memberships & certifications
ARMA International
Zasio is a proud member and supporter of ARMA International, the leading global professional association dedicated to records and information management (RIM) and information governance (IG). The partnership reflects our commitment to industry best practices, ongoing education standards, and professional excellence across our software, consulting services and customer support. Through ARMA we stay connected to evolving standards, so clients benefit from trusted, compliant and forward-thinking RIM strategies.
Boise Valley ARMA
Zasio is proud to support the records and information management (RIM) community not only at the national level through ARMA International, but also locally through active participation in chapters like Boise Valley ARMA. With Zasio headquarters in Boise, Idaho, our staff members regularly contribute their time, expertise, and leadership to local chapter events, helping foster professional growth, community engagement, and the advancement of best practices in information governance.
Professional certifications
Our team holds industry-recognized certifications that reflect deep expertise in records and information management and information governance: Certified Records Managers (CRMs), Information Governance Professionals (IGPs), Certified Information Privacy Professionals (CIPPs) and Certified Information Security Managers (CISMs) — credentials awarded by the Institute of Certified Records Managers (ICRM), ARMA International, the International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP) and ISACA. Those certifications are why clients receive trusted, compliant and strategically sound solutions across physical and electronic records management, retention schedule development, and privacy consulting.
SOC 2 Type 2
Zasio demonstrates its commitment to information security through a SOC 2 Type 2 attestation report, available to customers and prospects on a confidential basis. Conducted by a third-party auditor and based on the AICPA's Trusted Service Criteria, the attestation validates that Zasio's business processes, IT systems and risk-management controls are properly designed and effectively implemented. While focused on our SaaS solutions, the majority of these controls apply organization-wide. How we handle security →
What we specialize in
We specialize in managing all types of records, electronic or physical, and offer expertise in data mapping, international retention schedules, and information governance. With our consulting services and tools, Zasio sets the standard for records management companies. For nearly 40 years, Zasio has been at the forefront of records management and information governance. As global leaders in information governance, we help businesses create, implement, and maintain a bulletproof IG program. Whether you're running an IG program or getting started in records management, our team has the expert guidance you need.
Our records management software meets the needs and information governance challenges all businesses face. No matter the size or industry of your business, we have complete, proven solutions. With a global research footprint in more than 170 countries and a database of more than 183,000 U.S. domestic and international records retention, data privacy affecting records retention, handling requirements, and statutes of limitation citations, we have the most robust solutions on the market. We offer solution-based guidance on enterprise pain points — from records and information management to technology strategies and compliance support, we have experts to help. We take record-keeping and understanding the law seriously: our team works hard and is dedicated to performing domestic and international research. The law is constantly evolving, and so are we.
Over the last three decades, most of our competitors are either no longer in business or have gone through multiple acquisitions, leaving their customers with unsupported software and forcing them into costly upgrades. We have remained independent over the years — we don't have time to answer to a corporate board with other priorities. Our priority and focus are providing our customers with solid, reliable RIM software solutions and consulting services.
Grown, not assembled
Kevin Zasio founded the company in Silicon Valley in 1987. He had spent his career there as a software engineer, including work as a consultant in Hewlett-Packard's operating systems division — which is where the habit of building things properly, and building them in-house, comes from.
By 1993, several large companies in the Boise area had licensed the software. The travel back and forth did what travel sometimes does: Kevin fell for the place and moved the company there, to build a life and raise a family alongside the business. Zasio has been headquartered in Boise ever since, and has kept growing.
Those same Boise companies are still clients today — more than thirty years later. Of everything on this page, that is the record we are proudest of.
Nearly forty years on, the pattern holds. The software is still developed here rather than acquired and bolted on. The legal research is still done by our own attorneys. And the phone is still answered by someone who works here.

What that buys you
One company to call.
One vendor for the software, the research, and the consulting — so nothing falls between three of them. When something needs fixing there is no integration partner to escalate to, and no acquired product line quietly heading for end-of-life.
