The record series is probably the most important concept in the records management system. A record series is basically a file classification system that is used to organize your files by department and/or subject matter, and to apply consistent retention policies to similar types of records.
The Active Retention and Total Retention boxes on the Record Series screen tell the system how to determine when records in the series will be transferred to an inactive status (active retention), and when records will be changed to a destroyed status (total retention). |
